I grew up in Central New York and attended Elmira College, where I received my degree in Mathematics and Adolescent Education. After college, I moved to Tennessee and taught Algebra 1. After my first year of teaching, I realized that I wanted to work more closely with my students and make a larger impact on their lives.
I moved to Greenville in 2012 and started working for Carolina Academy for Educational Excellence. I worked as a math tutor, SAT and ACT tutor, an academic coach, and the office coordinator. During my time at CAEE, I revised and created our SAT and ACT materials, making the prep what it is today. When CAEE closed in 2019, I still wanted to be able to work with students and help them achieve their goals.
With the support of my husband, Travis, and my friends and family, I decided to open Empowered Learners, LLC. Opening my own business allows me to continue to follow my ambitions, while helping others achieve their dreams. I provide students with quality test prep and tutoring, equipping and empowering them to take next steps.
In March of 2022, our newest Empowered Learner was born. I am extremely happy to introduce our son, Graham. Becoming a parent has been an amazing experience, and Travis and I are extremely happy with this new stage of our lives.
